Karu Palaniappan Biography 
Karu Palaniappan is a film director and scriptwriter of Tamil movies. He won State Award for Best Director for his debut movie as a director, Parthiban Kanavu in the year 2003. In 2011, he won State Award for Best Script Writer for the movie, Sadhurangam. In the career spanning to one decade, he has also directed Sivappathigaram, Pirivom Santhippom, Mandhira Punnagai and Sadhurangam. He debut as hero in Mandhira Punnagai. His upcoming project is Jannal Oram.
Karu Palaniappan is a native of Karaikudi, known as capital of Chettinad. He was born as the eldest child to Chinna Karuppaiah and Thirumathi Nagammai. He started reading at a younger age and his father’s reading habit influenced him a lot. Slowly, his reading habit helped him to learning languages, writing, acting and elocution. He has won countless awards for such competitions too. He did his schooling from Madurai Seventh day Adventist. He took BA in English Literature in the renowned American College, Madurai and MA in English Literature from Madurai Thiyagaraja College.
Later he entered film industry as an assistant director. He has worked for the projects like Thullatha Manamum Thullum, Pennin Manathai Thottu and Poovellam Un Vasam where he assisted film director Ezhil. Thulladha Manamum Thullum, starring Vijay and Simran was the biggest blockbuster of the year 1999. In 2003, he directed his first movie as an independent director. The movie, Parthiban Kanavu with Srikanth and Sneha in lead roles is remembered for its sweet romantic story and responsibilities of a married life. The movie was a commercial hit, and the romantic track sung by Madhu Balakrishnan, Kanaa Kandenedi was one of the popular songs of the year. He directed his second movie, Sivappathigaram after a small break of 3 years. This movie too, did fairly well at the box office. His much lagged project, Sadhurangam released after 5 years gave him state award for best script. Pirivom Santhippom was also a box office hit.
