Vijay Biography 
Vijay is a popular Tamil actor and the son of S.A. Chandrashekhar a film producer and director. He was born on June 22, 1974. He studied and grew up in Chennai.
He performed un-redited roles as a child actor in his father’s productions movies like Naalaya Theerpu and Sendhoorapandi. He has also done romantic comedies like Vishnu and Chandralekha. He found his niche and continued romantic comedies like Coimbatore Mappilai. Movies like Poove Unnakanga made him become an acclaimed actor. He then did actions flicks like Maanbumigu Maanavan and Selva. He continued romantic films like love today and once more. He then starred in Mani Ratnam productions ‘Nerukku Ner’ directed by Vasanth. He then had a commercial success with Kadhalukku Mariyadhai and that won him a Tamil Nadu state award for best actor.
Commercial success came his way with Thirumalai and Udhaya. Ghillii released in 2004 is one of his biggest commercial; successes, it was directed by S. Dharani. He then did Aadhi which released in 2006. He later worked in Pokkiri which was a film by Prabhu Deva in which he was a cop in disguise. He then worked in an action masala film Villu again this time with Prabhu Deva. His 50th film, Sura released in 2010.
Presently he worked with director Siddique again, for Kaavalan, a Tamil remake of Malyalam film Bodyguard. This film did well commercially as well as with the critics. He is presently working with S. Shankar for the film Nanban. He is also speculated to be starred in Ameers next after he’s done with his present commitments. He has done endorsements with coca cola and IPL team Chennai Super Kings.
He has won a list of awards, some being M.G.R award from the government of Tamil Nadu in 2000. An honorary doctorate in 2007 is a special prize of best actor for Thirupacchi. He was also nominated Filmfare best Tamil actor for Pokkiri. He is married to Sangeeta Sornalingam, and a father of two children a boy and a girl.
