Raghuvaran Biography
Raghuvaran was an Indian film actor who was noted for his villain roles and character roles. He had acted in more than 150 films of various languages like Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, Kannada and Hindi. This legend had proved himself through his unique acting style and voice modulation.
Raghuvaran was born on 11th December 1958 in Kollengode in Palakkad District of Kerala. His father’s name is Velayudhan and his mother’s name is Kasthuri. After completing his schooling, he went to Government Arts College at Coimbatore to pursue his bachelor’s degree in arts. But his passion for acting brought him to the film industry in the middle of his higher studies. He married the actress Rohini and has one son named Sai Rishivaran. The couple was divorced later on.
A minor role in the Kannada film Swapna Thingalgal marked his entry into the film industry. He then started acting in small roles in many films. He joined the drama troupe Chennai Kings in 1979 and participated in that until 1983. He also played lead role in some films but they did not do well at box office.
His role in the film Anjali by Maniratnam in which he played the part of the father of an autistic child gave him positive reviews. He was also admired for his role in the film En Bommukkutti Ammavukku and the role of a don in the film Basha.
Some of the films that he has acted include Ezhavathu Manithan, Mr. Bharath, Samsaram Adhu Minsaram, Oorkavalan, Manithan, En Bommukkutti Ammavukku, Raja Chinna Roja, Shiva, Vyooham, Anjali, Chaithanya, Soorya Manasam, Daivathinte Vikrithikal, Paasamalargal, Anjali, Puriyaatha Pudhir, Arunachalam, Ullaasam, Nerukku Ner, Ratchagan, Suswagatham, Kannukkul Nilavu, Poopparikka Varukirom, Parthen Rasithen, Vallarasu, Mugavaree, etc.
At his later part of his life he became a drug addict and was taking treatments at rehabilitation clinics. Due to his excessive consumption of liquor, his liver was damaged and he died of cardiac arrest on 19th March 2008 in Chennai.
