Thambi Ramaiah Biography

Thambi Ramaiah is an Indian film actor and a director who primarily concentrates in Tamil film industry. He has won awards for his excellence in acting and has also worked as a lyricist.

He was born as Thambi Ramaiah Jagannathapillai at Rarapuram in Pudukkottai District of Tamil Nadu. His parents are Jagannathapillai and Pappammal. His wife’s name is Ponnazhagu and he has two children namely Umapathy and Viveka.

He entered film industry in 1999 as a lyricist. He has great interest to compose music also but he became a director unexpectedly. He worked as associate director of T. Rajender and P. Vasu. He has directed two films Manu Needhi and Indralogathil Na Azhagappan. He used to write comedy tracks for Vadivelu who is his best friend.

He started to act in the films through the film Malabar Police in which he performed a small role along with Goundamani. Then he started performing character roles in the films. Originally he was not interested in acting as he could not establish himself as an actor. However the film Mynaa in 2010 which won him awards was a turning point in his life and he started getting more opportunities.

Some of the films that he has acted include Malai Malai, Mynaa, Mandhira Punnagai, Vaagai Sooda Vaa, Venghai, Odipolama, Guru En Aalu, Magane En Marumagane, Jore, Vetrivel Sakthivel, Kodambakkam, Vathiyar, Sillunu Oru Kaadhal, Thalaimagan, Imsai Arasan 23m Pulikesi, Kovai Brothers, etc.
