Jayaram Biography

Jayaram is an Indian film actor that acts mainly in Malayalam and Tamil movies. He is not only an actor but also a mimicry artist. He was born on 10th December 1965 in Tamil speaking Kerala Iyer family. His native is Perumbavoor in Kerala. He attended Sri Sankara College at Kaladi and obtained his bachelor’s degree. He started to perform mimicry when he was at college and got many awards for that.


He married former actress Parvathy and has one son Kalidasan and one daughter Malavika. His son is a child artist in films and has received National Film award for Best child Artist in 2003 for the film Ente Veedu appoontem. Jayaram lives both in Chennai and Cochin.


After his college days, he joined Kalabavan, the mimicry troupe in Kochi and was introduced to film industry when he was 23. His debut film was Aparan in 1988 and then acted in Moonnam Pakkam in 1988 and Innale in 1989. The film maker Padmarajan became his guru in film industry.


He acted in various films Pradeshika Vaarthakal, Shubha Yathra, etc. and in some of them he acted with his wife Parvathy. He partnered with Viji Thambi in films like Witness, Nanma Niranjavan Srinivasan, etc. He co-starred with many actors like Mammootty, Suresh Gopi, Mohanlal in different films.


His films in 2000s include Veruthe Oru Bharya, Twenty: 20, Manassinakkare, Yathrakarude Sradhakku, Theerthadanam, Sheesham, etc. His Tamil films are Gokulam, Purushalakshanam, Pathini, Murai Mamman, Thanali, Panchathanthiram, Dhaam Dhoom, etc.

He also played antagonist role and comic role in few films. Some of his films include Alice in Wonderland, Njaan Salperu Raman Kutty, Manassinakkare, Madhuchandralekhs, Finger Print, Moonnamathoral, Andhil Oral Arjunan, Happy Husbands, Bhaghyadevatha, Kudumbasree Travels, Makeup Man, etc.

He received Padma Shri from Government of India in 2011. He got Kerala State Best Actor award in 2000 for Swayamvarapandhal, Special Jury Award in 1996 for Thooval Kottaram and Filmfare Wards three times for Best Actor and one time for Best Supporting Actor. He got special prize in Tamil Nadu State Film Awards in 2000 for the film Thenali. He received Asianet Awards three times and many other awards.
