Nitish Katara Biography 
Nitish Katara was a 25-year-old Indian business executive in Delhi, who was murdered in the early hours of 17 February 2002 during a marriage function in National Capital Region of India by Vikas and Vishal Yadav. Nitish who had recently graduated from the Institute of Management Technology, Ghaziabad, and had befriended with Bharti Yadav, sister of Vikas and Vishal and the daughter of influential and notorious politician D. P. Yadav from Uttar Pradesh.
Meanwhile Bharti Yadav, who was a prime witness in the Nitish murder case and was willing to appear in the court was sent to to London after the murder. Bharti remained in touch with Katara family through e-mails and hinted about the involvement of her relatives along with her father in the murder of Nitish.
Subsequently it was proved in the trial court that Nitish was murdered as the Yadav family did not like any relationship between Nitish and Bharti. Vikas and Vishal Yadav were proved and convicted for life sentence in jail after a long trial that lasted for six years. Delhi High Court upheld the Trial Court verdict of life imprisonment in 2014. Delhi High Court rejected the Appeal application of Death Sentence filed by Katara family but extended sentence as 25 years rigorous Life Imprisonment without allowing any remittance to the convicted in Feb, 2015.
Finally Supreme Court Of India rejected a plea by Neelam Katara mother of Nitish Katra seeking death sentence for Vishal and Vikas Yadav. The Supreme Court said to award death sentence to Uttar Pradesh politician D.P. Yadav’s son Vikas and his nephew Vishal was not called for as despite being a planned murder it was not heinous. Neelam Katara, the mother of deseased Nitish has plans of filing an impleadment application to convince the court that her son was a victim of honour killing.
