Jyothi Raj Biography

Jyothi Raj is a rock climber and wall climber from Chitradurga, Karnataka. Nicknamed as "Kothi Raju" or "Monkey King", he shot to fame after scaled the Chitradurga Fort without safety harnesses in the year 2009. He also scaled Karnataka’s highest waterfall, the 830-foot Jog falls, the only person who has been able to do so. He climbed in the opposite direction to that of the flow in 2013. Though he was hurt in the mission, he remained unshaken. He is to mark his acting debut in a film titled Jyothi aliyas Kothiraja, where he plays the titular role. He is also known by the name Monkey Man, Spider Man of Chitradurga etc.

 

The rock-climber from Chitradurga is a self-taught professional in this field. He was 18 when he discovered his incredible climbing ability in 2005 while scaling bamboo scaffolding widely used in the sub-continent. Like a spider man, without any safety measures, he glues to the wall with his amazing ability to stick to a vertical surface upside down, conquering many new territories, recording many records in his name. He feels no fear as he reaches heights of up to 300ft without using a harness.

 

He learnt the trick of rock climbing after watching monkeys climb trees. He also watched stunts of movie to learn it further. Jyothi claimed his ability to place his hands and feet exactly where he wants to do, and in fact he was born to be a climber. He even copies some of Spider Man's best moves for his adventurous efforts, and has a special talent to move fast and grasp the rock face. Apart from scaling Chitradurga Fort and Jog falls, he also scaled the clock tower at Moorusavir Math in Hubli in just over 15 minutes in 2013.
