Tarun Vijay Biography 
Tarun Vijay is an Indian author, social worker, famous freelance journalist, and parliamentarian. He works as columnist of several leading newspapers like The Times of India and The daily pioneer. He served as the editor of Panchajanya, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh weekly in Hindi, from 1986 to 2008. At present he is a member of Rajya Sabha. He is also the director of Dr. Syamaprasad Mookerjee Research Foundation (DSMRF).
Tarun was born in the year 1961. He took journalism as his career in the year 1976 when he joined Russi Karanjia at the Mumbai-based tabloid Blitz. Then he spent a decade of freelance journalism. He also worked among tribals in Dadra and Nagar Haveli as a pracharak of Bharatiya Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram as an RSS activist. Then in 1986, he joined as executive editor of Panchajanya. Noted film-makers Basu Bhattacharya and William Greaves have featured in their documentaries when Tarun was a part of Bharatiya Vanavasi Kalyan Ashram. He was appointed director of the BJP's newly created think-tank the Dr Shyama Prasad Mookerjee Research foundation. He served as the Chief Editor of Panchajanya for 20 years, where former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee was its first editor of this 60 year old magazine.
During his one-decade career as a freelancer, he worked for major dailies and magazines. As an RSS activist, he worked for 5 years before joining Panchajanya. He was the youngest member of the then home minister's Hindi Language advisory committee during Indira Gandhi's government during his association with RSS. He is a noted photographer also and has covered Himalayan region extensively and also did a pictorial book An Odyssey in Tibet. An Odyssey in Tibet: Pilgrimage of Kailash Mansarovar and Saffron Surge, India's Re-emergence on the Global Scene and Hindu Ethos are his published books.
