Anil Dharker Biography 
Anil Dharker is an acclaimed columnist and writer from Mumbai. Known to be a promoter of Indian literature, he is the founder-director of Literature Live, which arranges literal gatherings. He opened Akashwani Auditorium in South Bombay as an art movie theatre, and has remained as a member of selection committee for selecting Indian films for international film festivals. He has worked with National Film Development Corporation and has served as its head. He was formerly married to Pakistani poet Imtiaz Dharker., and has one daughter Ayesha Dharker, an actress who appears in Indian and Hollywood films.
Anil Dharker hails from Mumbai. After graduating in mathematics he moved to England for advanced studies. He completed Mechanical Engineering from the University of London and taught at University of Glasgow before he moved back to India. He joined as Senior Consultant in architectural firm, Phoroze Kudianavala, thus working in construction sector. He also started writing about Indian cinema. He was appointed in the Advisory Board of the Film Censor Board by Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, and was later appointed at National Film Development Corporation, then called the Film Finance Corporation.
During his association with NFDC, his best contribution is regarded as his efforts to co-produce Richard Attenborough`s film Gandhi in 1982, which won numerous awards at Oscars and other award functions. As a representative of NFDC, he has remained in the core team which choose Indian films for international film festivals held at Cannes, Berlin, Chicago and London. He also owns a successful career as a journalist. This veteran has served as a freelancer columnist and editor for various forms of publications. He has also interviewed famous personalities belonging to different professions.
