Nikhil Wagle Biography 
Nikhil Wagle is a noted journalist and television anchor from Maharashtra. He is the owner and Editor of the Mumbai-based Marathi daily Mahanagar. As a television anchor, Aajcha Sawal was one of his most successful shows which was aired on IBN-Lokmat daily. Aamne Samne was a popular talk show anchored by Wagle. He is a recipient of Sanskriti award, given for his significant contributions as an editorial member of IBN-Lokmat which gave new definitions to Marathi News space.
Wagle is an atheist and a self-proclaimed liberal. He is married to the noted journalist, Meena Karnik. In 2009, he was attacked and severely beaten up by Shiv Sena activists and his face was blackened with engine oil. Attackers claimed that they did so following the derogatory remarks of Wagle about former Chief Minister and Shiv Sena leader Narayan Rane. He started his television career in 1989 and currently serves in the management of Network 18. He also serves as the editor of IBN Lokmat a Marathi news channel.
He was born on 29 April 1959 in Maharashtra and started his career as a journalist in 1977. He started off as a as a cub reporter and two years later he became the editor of Dinank, a Marathi newsweekly. Thus he became the youngest editor of the state. In 1982, he started his own publishing house and in 1990 he started Hamara Mahanagar, a Marathi-language newspaper in Mumbai, where he remained as its editor. It is regarded as one of the most credible fearless dailies of Maharashtra and he has criticized the Shiv Sena's communal propaganda consistently. His vitriolic comments were also saved for Shiv Sena chief Bal Thackeray. The party has allegedly threatened the staff several times and Nikhil was briefly imprisoned for a 1998 editorial.
He is an athiest and a member of Aam Aadmi Party.
