Ramesh Babu Biography

Ramesh Babu Ghattamaneni, shortly called Ramesh Babu is a Telugu film actor and producer. He is the son of superstar Krishna. He acted in only 15 films and later moved to production field. Telugu actors Mahesh Babu and Manjula Ghattamaneni are his siblings. Bollywood actress and model Namrata Shirodkar is her sister-in-law. His sister Manjula is married to producer and actor Sanjay Swaroop. Vijaya Nirmala, the female director who had made the highest number of films is his step mother. Actor Sudheer Babu is married to his younger sister Priyadarshini and thus Ramesh’s brother-in-law. Industrialist Jay Galla is also his brother-in-law.

Ramesh Babu was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu to Ghatamaneni Siva Rama Krishna and Indira Devi on October 13, 1965 as their first child. He has 4 siblings. In 1977, Ramesh Babu ventured into films as a child actor at the age of 12. He acted in his father’s movie, Manushulu Chesina Dongalu. In 1979, he played a significant role as a child artist in the movie, Needa. Then he took a break from acting and returned to big screen in the year 1987. The movie was Samraaat where he played lead role opposite Sonam. Later he appeared in movies like Chinni Krishnudu, Bazaar Rowdy, Kaliyuga Karnudu and Mugguru Kodukulu including some directional ventures by his father. In the movie Mugguru Kodukulu, he worked aside his father and younger brother. As a solo hero, Bazaar Rowdy was his first successful movie.

In 1994, he was seen for the last time in a leading role in the film Pacha Thoranam and later he took a break from acting. In 1997, he appeared in a supporting role in Encounter. In 2004, Ramesh established a film production company named Krishna Productions Private Ltd. Arjun was the first movie produced under this new banner. In 2011, he was seen as a presenter for the film Dookudu.
