Kanchan Gupta Biography 
Kanchan Gupta is an Indian journalist, writer, political analyst, and activist. He is associated with journalism field since 1984, and in the 1990s took public service too. He writes on national and regional politics, international affairs and security issues. Coffee Break, is one of his popular columns which appears in The Pioneer every Sunday. He also writes for Mumbai daily, and many other leading dailies and magazines. He follows Brahmo Samaj, lives politically conservative and socially liberal.
Kanchan Gupta hails from West Bengal, and was born to Bangladeshi refugee parents. He was raised in Jamshedpur and Patna, and studied in missionary schools, which include - Loyola School, Jamshedpur and St Michael's High School, Patna. For higher studies he moved to Kolkata, where he completed his graduation from St Xavier’s College. He took graduation in Economics, Politics and English languages. He began his career as a journalist in 1982, and is till now associated with the same field.
He started off working with The Telegraph as a sub-editor on the news desk in 1982. He earned editing from M.J. Akbar. After 5 years he received offer from The Statesman, and became the youngest Assistant Editor in their publishing history. In 1991, he moved to Delhi and joined The Pioneer. He worked as an editor for a while and got promoted to Deputy Editor in 1994.
In 1995, he gave up full-time journalism to concentrate on a public career. He got associated with Bharatiya Janata Party leaders like L.K. Advani and Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and worked as an assistant in their parliamentary work. When BJP came into power in the late 1990s, he worked as their close associative. In 2004, he re-joined The Pioneer for short while, and currently writes on different topics for different forms of news publications.
