Giselle Monteiro Biography

Giselli Monteirois a Brazilian model and Bollywood actress who made her big screen debut through Love Aaj Kal, directed by Imtiaz Ali, where she played the role of Harleen Kaur. She played the role of Aishwarya Dhawan in 2011 movie, Always Kabhi Kabhi. She was paired opposite Ali Fazal and the movie was produced by Shahrukh Khan under Red Chillies Entertainment. However the movie directed by Roshan Abbas was a box office failure.

Monteiro was born in Sao Mateus, Espirito Santo, Brazil on 16 November 1988. She started modelling at the age of 17 and travelled many countries as a successful model. Italy, Germany, France, Greece, Hong Kong, Singapore, Thailand and Philippines are among those nations in which she has done modelling assignments. She came to India in 2008 and made onscreen debut with Saif Ali Khan-Deepika Padukone starrer Love Aaj Kal. She approached Imtiaz Ali through designer Anaita Shroff Adajania to audition for the role of Jo, Saif Ali Khan's Caucasian girlfriend. But later she was given the role of a Punjabi Indian girl, Harleen Kaur and throughout the film promotion her identity was kept under wraps for film publicity.

She later appeared in covers of Indian edition of Harper’s Bazaar, ELLE, Marie Clarie and Femina magazine. Now Giselli is the Indian brand ambassador of Wills Lifestyle, Movil Mobiles and PC Jewellers. She has also worked as a ramp model for Rohit Bal, Ritu Kumar and Ranna Gill. For her role in Love Aaj Kal, she was nominated at Star Screen Awards for Most Promising Newcomer female, Stardust Awards (Exciting New Face) and she also received a nomination at IIFA.
