Saif Ali Khan Biography
Saif Ali Khan is an Indian actor who belongs to the popular family of the poet Rabindranath Tagore. He entered acting industry in 1992 but had to wait for two years to taste his first success. Then he became a popular actor in lead role in Hindi film industry and has won many awards for his talented performance.
Saif Ali Khan was born on 16th August 1970 in New Delhi in India. He belongs to the lineage of the Nawabs of Pataudi from his father’s side and his father is the famous cricket player Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi who served as the captain of the Indian cricket team in bygone years. His mother’s name is Sharmila Tagore and she was a popular actress in Hindi cinema in 1960s and 1970s. After her marriage she was converted to Islam and changed her name as Begum Ayesha Sultana and Saif Ali Khan was brought up in a Muslim atmosphere.
He has two sisters namely Saba Ali Khan and Soha Ali Khan. He completed his schooling from Lawrence School at Sanawar and Lockers Park School at Hertfordshire. He did his higher studies at the Winchester College in UK. He could speak Urdu, Hindi, Bengali and English fluently.
Saif Ali Khan married Amrita Singh in October 1991. She is also an actress. However, 13 years of his married life and after the birth of his son Ibrahim Ali Khan and daughter Sara Ali Khan, they were divorced in 2004. He was dating with Rosa Catalano of Switzerland but it broke off after three years.
He was dating Kareena Kapoor from October 2007 and they were officially married on 16th October 2012 and the Nikkah took place on 21st October 2012. When his father passed away on 22nd September 2011, the villagers of Pataudi made him assume the title of the Nawab of Pataudi.
He entered the film industry through the film Parampara by Yash Chopra in 1992. He won his first Filmfare Award for the film Aashiq Awara in 1993. He got a breakthrough in 1994 when his film Yeh Dillagi with Akshay Kumar and Kajol was a great hit. After acting as a second hero for quite sometimes, in 2000s he was casted in the lead role. Many of his films turned to be blockbusters giving him fame and name.
He took part in the two major world tours Temptations 2004and Heat 2006. He also showed up at the closing ceremony of the 2006 Commonwealth Games in Melbourne with Rani Mukerji and in 2010 Commonwealth Games at Delhi with Aishwarya Rai.
He was into some controversies like being charged for poaching two blackbucks during the shooting of the film Hum Saath Saath Hain and was charged for involving in assaulting a photographer while filming Love Aaj Kal.
He has also produced some films namely Love Aaj Kal, Agent Vinod and Cocktail. Some of the films that he has acted include Kurbaan, Aarakshan, Love Aaj Kal, Race, Omkara, Being Cyrus, Parineeta, Hum Tum, Ek Hasina Thi, LOC Kargil, Dil Chahta Hai, Kachche Dhaage, Ek Tha Raja, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Imtihaan, Aashiq Awara, Yaar Gaddar, Surakshaa, etc.
