Balaji Venugopal Biography

Balaji Venugopal is a film actor associated with Tamil film industry. He has done both lead and supporting roles. He started off with supporting roles in 2008, and got his first lead role through noir comedy Sutta Kadhai released in 2013. He has played memorable character roles in Poisollaporom, Madrasapattinam and Nanban, prior to his debut as a lead actor of Tamil cinema. He serves as the creative head of the YouTube channel called Madras Meter, which has over 50,000 subscribers. He has also worked as a radio jockey in Radio Mirchi, and hosted a few shows for Vijay Television before he forayed into film acting.

Balaji Venugopal began his career as a radio jockey in Radio Mirchi radio station. Now also he is associated with radio shows as an RJ in Hello FM. Started his career as an RJ, later he became a VJ working with Vijay TV and Jaya TV. He hosted a show, Vasool Rani for Vijay TV followed by Raagamaalika on Jaya TV. As a film actor, he marked his debut with Poi Solla Porom in 2008 in a character role. This Tamil comedy film was a remake of the Bollywood cult classic, Khosla Ka Ghosla.

He played his first meaty role through 2010 period drama film, Madrasapattinam. He played the supporting role of Veerasekhara Murali in this film. It was followed by a series of noted supporting roles in Nanban, Thaandavam, Maalai Pozhudhin Mayakathilaey, Settai, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi etc. He played his first lead role in Sutta Kadhai, a black comedy film released in 2013. The film opened to mixed reviews. Endrendrum Punnagai, Aadama Jaichomada, Naaigal Jaakirathai, Thottal Thodarum, Idhu Enna Maayam, Pencil, Iru Mugan, Sathya and Velaikkaran are his noted works later.
