Shreyas Talpade Biography

Shreyas Talpade is an actor of Bollywood and Marathi movies. He is most noted for his performance in Iqbal as leading hero and supporting actor roles in movies like Om Shanti Om and Dor. He has been a part of many successful Bollywood movies like Apna Sapna Money Money and Golmaal returns. As a solo hero, his role in the movie ‘Welcome to Sajjanpur’ opposite Amrita Rao and comic flick Bombay to Bangtok are successful too.

Shreyas Talpade was born in Mumbai as the son of Bhupesh Talpade. As he was interested in acting, he used to participate in stage shows since his childhood days. As an actor, he debut through Marati television soaps and became popular. ‘Woh’ of Zee Television in 1997 marked his beginning in Hindi world. He debut Bollywood with Nagesh Kukunoor’s Iqbal in 2005. Made on a moderate budget of 75 lakhs, the movie earned 45 crores thus turning him to an overnight star. His role as a deaf cricketer and his passion to cricket earned him ZEE Cine awards Best actor critics award. He won Filmfare best actor debut award too. Nagesh Kukunoor casted him in a comic role in the next venture too. In the critically well acclaimed movie Dor in 2006, he played the role of Behroopiya. Apna sapna money money also worked well in box office, thus making him a lucky star.

After Iqbal, perhaps the most popular movie of Shreyas Talpade was Om Shanti Om. Farah Khan was the director of the movie with Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan its leading actors. His role as the pal of Shah Rukh Khan was well appreciated and it played a significant role in turning the movie to a blockbuster. He did a couple of flop movies like Agar and Dil dosthi etc in the same year.

His next most noted performance was Golmaal returns, for which he won his first nomination in Filmfare for supporting actor role. With its mega duper success, he was casted in its next package too – Golmaal 3. His other notable performances include Mirch, Aashayein, Help, Click, Houseful 2, Joker, Hum tum Shabana, Will you mary me? and Aage se right. He was the leading hero of Priyadarshan’s Kamaal Dhamaal Maalamal. Though it was remake of a blockbuster movie of Malayalam ‘Marikkundoru Kunjodu’ it failed to impress the audience.
