Puru Rajkumar Biography

Puru Rajkumar is a Bollywood actor who has worked in leading roles as well as handled villain roles. He is most known as son of great actor of yesterdays – Rajkumar. Yet he has not been successful as an actor in Bollywood. He was launched to Bollywood through ‘Bal Brahmachari’ opposite Karisma Kapoor in the year – 1996. Yet the movie was not received well by audience. Only one memorable performance of his career is Hum appke dil mein rehte hain of Anil Kapoor and Aishwarya Rai, directed by Satish Kaushik, where he played villain’s role. He has also did cameo appearance in Mission Kashmir the same year (2000). Most recently he has appeared in Salman Khan’s movie – Veer and Aiswarya rai’s movie – Umrao Jaan.

Puru Rajkumar was launched to Bollywood by his father Raj Kumar exactly at the same time when another star son was launched. He was Akshaye Khanna – son of Vinod Khanna. However both these movies flopped in box office exactly the same year – 1996. Puru played the role of a Hanuman devotee who has taken oath to remain bachelor and serve Hanuman throughout his life. Karisma Kapoor played the role of a college girl who loves him a lot; yet he denies it always as he wants to remain ‘Hanuman devotee’ throughout his life. Deepak Tijori played his brother’s role in this movie. South Indian actress Simran played supporting role in this movie. The movie was released at a time when Karisma Kapoor's career graph reached the high position of her career, post Raja Hindustani success. The movie was directed by Prakash Mehra. Despite being a fresh idea, the movie flopped at box office and he disappeared from the screens.

He came back with a terrific performance in the movie –Hum aapke dil mein rehte hain. Up to date, this movie remains the best performance of Puru rajkumar. He plays the role of Chaudary’s brother who raps Aiswarya became she became a witness for their case. Though his role was appreciated, he switched on to B-grade movies. He has also appeared in Bollywood movies like Veer, Mission Kashmir and Umrao Jaan.
