Anil Kapoor Biography

Anil Kapoor is an Indian actor and producer. He has acted mainly in the Bollywood films. He has won Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor category for his film Mashaal in 1984. His first Filmfare Best Actor Award came from the film Tezaab in 1988 and he got this again for his film Beta in 1992.

 

He was born on 24th December 1959 in Tilak Nagar in Mumbai in Maharashtra. His father Surinder Kapoor is a film producer and his mother is Nirmal. He studied at Our Lady of Perpetual Succour High School at Chembur in the suburbs of Mumbai. Then he attended St. Xavier’s College at Mumbai. He has one elder brother, Boney Kappor and one younger brother Sanjay Kapoor. Both of them are in film industry. He married Sunita Kapoor in 1984 and has two daughters, Sonam Kapoor and Rhea Kapoor and one son Harshwardhan Kapoor.

 

His debut film was Hamare Tumhare in 1979 in which he acted in the supporting role. Then after few minor roles in some films, he appeared in the lead role in the film Woh Saat Din in 1983. Some of his commercial successes include Who Saat Din, Meri Jung, Karma, Janbaaz, Mr. India, Virasat, Biwi No.1, Taal, Pukar, No Entry, Welcome, etc. He won Filmfare Critics Award for Best Actor for the film Biwi No.1, Filmfare Best Supporting Actor Award for the film Taal, and National Film Award for Best Actor for the film Pukar.

 

He acted in the international film Slumdog Millionaire. This was the film of Danny Boyle which won Academy Award. He shared the Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture for this film. He became one of the globally recognized Indian actors. He starred in the eighth season of the American television series 24 in 2010.

 

He also has produced some films. In the year 2002 he produced his first film Badhaai Ho Badhaai. Some other films that he produced are My Wife’s Murder, Gandhi, My Father, Shortkut: The Con, Aisha, etc. Gandhi, My Father received National Film Award – Special Jury Award.
