Avinash Dixit Biography 
Avinash Dixit is an Indian-American economist and author, who has written many non-fiction books on his subject. In 2016, government of India honoured him with Padmabhushan for his overall contributions towards the field of Literature & Education. Well-known economists, Vijay Kelkar, Robert Helsley and Dani Rodrik did their research work under him. He was elected to the American Academy of Arts and Sciences in 1992 and the National Academy of Sciences in 2005. He also served as President of the Econometric Society in 2001, followed by Vice-President (2002) and President (2008) of the American Economic Association.
Avinash Dixit was born in Mumbai, British India in the year 1944. Currently he is a US citizen. He completed his graduation from Bombay University in 1963 followed by graduation from Cambridge University in 1965 in Mathematics. Later he also earned a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in Economics. He completed his research works in 1968. After that he had a distinguished career as an academician in different universities of US. After studies, he taught at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, at University of California, Berkeley, at Balliol College, Oxford and at the University of Warwick.
He joined Princeton University in 1989, where he worked as a professor in economics for many years. He has also served as visiting professor of many universities. He received CES Fellow Award from the Center for Economic Studies at the University of Munich in the year 1994. He co-authored “Investment Under Uncertainty” with famous American Economist Robert Pindyck, and Thinking Strategically: The Competitive Edge in Business, Politics, and Everyday Life, with Barry Nalebuff. In 2016, government of India announced the second higher civilian honour, Padma Vibhushan.
