Aditya Puri Biography 
Aditya Puri is a business executive, banker and entrepreneur who currently serves as the Managing Director of HDFC Bank, India's second largest private sector bank. He serves as the MD of the bank since 1994 and has completed 2 decades in this position, thus making him the longest-serving head of an Indian bank. This business typhoon played a major role in converting a small business organization to India’s third biggest bank - after State Bank of India and ICICI bank. HDFC also holds one of the most expensive banks in the world in terms of price to book value. Puri also holds some unique qualities. He avoids e-mail and doesn’t carry a mobile phone. His daughter Amrita Puri has entered Bollywood with 2010 movie, Aisha and later appeared in Blood Money (2012) and Kai Po Che! (2013).
Aditya Puri didn’t start his professional career as a banker. He started as an executive assistant to the finance director of automobile firm Mahindra and Mahindra Ltd. He was jealous of his cousin who was in banking industry and enjoyed luxurious life. His cousin was in Citibank and he sought an opportunity to switch over to Citibank. He attended an interview and got selected to banking field as well. From an employee of Citibank, he reached the senior-most position of CEO, Malaysia in 1992.
He served as the CEO of Citibank, Malaysia from 1992 to 1994 before joining HDFC Bank as MD. Among the noted acquisitions and merging, he gained attention of Centurion BoP merging, which most recently acquired Lord Krishna Bank. He has over 30 years of experience in both domestic and international banking and currently serves as a Deputy Chairman of Indian Banks' Association.
