Raju Kher Biography

Raju Kher is an Indian actor and director who works in Bollywood and television. He is the youngest brother of accomplished actor of Bollywood, Anupam Kher. National award winning actress Kirron Kher is his sister-in-law. Raju Kher is known for portraying character roles in movies and television, including some negative roles. Krrish 3 (2013), Shootout at Wadala (2013), Delhi Belly (2012), Jungle (2000) and Ghulam (1998) are his noted Bollywood roles. He played the role of Scientist in Kaal's Lab in his latest release – Krish 3.

He was born as the son of Pushkarnath Kher and younger brother of Anupam Kher in Kashmir on 11 September 1957. Though he has done a cameo role in 1987 movie Kaash, he got active in Bollywood only in the mid-1990’s. Ghulam, Bade dilwale, Prem, Heeralal Pannalal, Ghaat, Jungle and Shyam Ghanshyam are among his early movies. He also worked in Anupam Kher’s directorial debut Om Jai Jagdish in 2002. It was with mid-2000’s he gained momentum in Bollywood. He worked parallel in television also. He played a significant role in critically acclaimed movie, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara. He directed one movie, Wow! But the movie is yet to get released.

As a television actor, his early association was with Doordarshan in the 1990’s and has appeared in television serials on DD-National like Imtihaan (Renuka Shahane in lead role), Kashmakash and Manzile. He also worked with Kashmiri television. Hamari Betiyoon Ka Vivaah, Karishma: A Miracle of Destiny, Parvarrish – Kuchh Khattee Kuchh Meethi, Thoda Hai Thode Ki Zaroorat Hai, Rishtey, Sailaab, Tere ghar ke saamne and Maayka are other noted television works.
