Manjot Singh Biography

Manjot Singh is a Bollywood actor better known for his supporting roles in critically acclaimed and box office hit movies - Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! and Fukrey. He won Filmfare Critics Award for the Best Actor for his performance in Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! He has been a part of many critically acclaimed movies instead of commercial movies, Udaan and Shaitaan being the best instances. He was also seen in Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year. He appeared in the role of Pummy Singh in ‘What the fish’ and in the role of Param in Punjabi movie, Pure Punjabi. He participated in Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi Level 3 in the year 2010.

Manjot Singh was born on July 7, 1992 in Delhi in a business family. He completed his schooling from the prestigious Hillwoods Academy situated in New Delhi. When Paramjot Singh and his team auditioned for actors for their new movie in Delhi, Manjot’s father asked him if he wants to try for it. He agreed to it though he has no previous acting experience, even at school. Casting director was not at all satisfied to choose him for master thief Lucky. However Film director, Dibakar Banerjee felt that he is the right choice for the role and thus he got selected.

His magic debut in Bollywood through Oye Lucky! Lucky Oye! Not only gathered him critics’ appreciation, it also presented to him, Best actor Critics choice award at prestigious Filmfare. Manjot went to Manali for a week long acting workshop before film shooting and he was asked by the film director to observe the lead actor Abhay Deol closely.
