Laxmi Mall Singhvi Biography 
Laxmi Mall Singhvi was an Indian administrator, jurist, diplomat, writer and politician, who has served as a member of parliament three times. He is the second-longest-serving High Commissioner for India in the United Kingdom (1991–97), after V. K. Krishna Menon. For his contributions towards the field of Indian administration, Government of India honoured him with the third highest civilian honour - Padma Bhushan in 1998, soon after his term as High Commissioner for India in UK came to an end. He passed away on 6 October 2007 at the age of 75. He was associated with Bharatiya Janata Party.
Laxmi Mall Singhvi was born in Jodhpur, Rajasthan on 9 November 1931. He was born into a Marwari Jain family and had 4 siblings. His advanced studies were completed at Harvard and Cornell University. He took PhD from Harvard University in the year 1954. He completed his law studies before he pursued a career in legal practice at Jodhpur trial and sessions courts. He also got associated with politics, and got elected to Lok Sabha for the first time in 1962 as an independent candidate from his hometown, Jodhpur. He made brief appearances in court during his 5-year term as MP.
After his term end, he returned to legal practice. He later practised at Rajasthan High Court and the Supreme Court of India. He served as the Advocate General of Rajasthan state for the period 1972–77, and later became Senior Advocate in the Supreme Court of India. In the 1950s soon after independence, when an agenda of "social modernization" was forced by Nehru government, he remained an opponent an agenda of "social modernization". He served as a Member of parliament for the second time in 1957–62, and retained his seat as an independent candidate in the next Lok Sabha elections too. But he lost 1967 elections.
