Kaveri Biography

Kaveri is a former south Indian actress who was active in the era of 1990’s. She belongs to Kavumbhagom, Thiruvalla, Kerala. She entered big screen as a child artist during mid-1980’s and later moved to adult roles. Throughout 1990’s she was active in Malayalam cinema and with late 1990’s she moved to other south Indian languages. With 2000’s she started doing supporting roles. As an actress she has been most successful in Telugu cinema. Kakkothikkavile Appooppan Thaadikal was one of her earliest movies, most noticed as a child artist. She played the childhood role of actress Ambika in this movie and ‘Kannam thumpi poramo’ is a nostalgic song pictured on her and actress Rasi. She played lead role opposite Madhupal in 1997 Indian Oscar entry – Guru. The movie starred Mohanlal in pivot role.

 

She has also appeared in one television serial, Thyagam for Sun TV. She has been most successful in Telugu cinema and has won Nandi awards for best actress for 2002 for the movie - ‘Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru’. Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum, Five Star Hospital, Gramapanchayath, Thachiledathu Chundan, Guru, Kilukil Pambaram, Udyanapalakan, Made in USA, Thillana Thillana, Vardhakyapuranam, Rajathantram, Anubhoothi and Oru Abhibhashakante Case Diary are her noted Malayalam movies. Kaasi, Kannukkul Nilavu, Appu, Ninaikkatha Naalillai and Samudhiram are her noted Tamil works. Vasanthiyum Lakshmiyum Pinne Njaanum was the most noted Malayalam movie of Kaveri and when this movie was remade to Tamil titled Kaasi, she reprised her original role and played lead opposite Vikram.

 

Though she has been active in Malayalam industry since mid 1980’s, she couldn’t find it big except one or two movies. With late 1990’s she moved to Telugu and Tamil movies and gained appreciation. She appeared in Telugu movies like Vasantham, Dongodu, Pedababu, Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru, Sheshu etc. She won Nandi award and SICA award for best actress for the movie - Avunu Valliddaru Ista Paddaru. In 2007 she made a comeback to Malayalam movies, playing second lead role in Kangaroo. In this movie she played the elder sister of Kavya Madhavan.
