Mohanlal Biography 
Mohanlal’s full name is Mohanlal Viswanathan Nair. He is an Indian actor and famous for his skills in versatile acting. He had to play the negative roles in many movies before he could establish himself as a top star. He is considered to be cultural icon of Kerala. He got Padma Shri award in the year 2001 by Government of India.
Mohanlal was born on 21 May 1960 in Pathanamthitta district. His father is Vishwanathan Nair and mother Shanthakumari. He has one elder brother Pyarelal. Mohanlal studied at government model school and got his degree in commerce in Mahatma Gandhi College in Thiruvananthapuram. He acted at school and college stages during those times. He was married to Suchitra, daughter of Tamil film producer K. Balaji on 28th April 1988. His two children are Pranav and Vismaya.
From 1980 to 1985 marked the early years of his cinema life. Late 1980s to early 1990s were marked as golden age not only for Malayalam Cinema but also for Mohanlal. He and Mammootty entered the Malayalam film industry more or less at the same time. Some of the films he acted are Enikkum Oru Divasam, Sree Ayyappanum Vavarum, Visa, Kurisu Yuddham, Poochakkoru Mookkuthi, Naayakan, Anubandham, Padayani, Thalavattam, Kilukkam, Abhimanyu, Dhevathoothan, Mambazhakkalam, Janakan, etc.
He had acted in few plays. He also appears as model in advertisements. He features with Hema Malini in Malabar Gold ads. He became the Good Will Ambassador of Kerala State Athletics Association and Aids awareness campaign by Kerala AIDS control society. He started many business ventures, restaurants, packaged spicy products and some related to film production. Vismayas Max is a film studio at Kinfra film and Video Park in Trivandrum and Maxlab Cinemas and Entertainments, the film distribution company are owned by him. He also owns a number of chain restaurants in Dubai.
He has got number of awards, six Kerala state Film Awards for Best Actor, Padma Shri Award in 2001, Honorary Doctorate degree by Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in 2010. He was chosen as the most popular Keralite by CNN-IBN in the year 2006.
