Elena Kazan Biography

Elena Kazan is a German-Russian actress who appears in Bollywood films at present. She acted in Bollywood movies like Agent Vinod and John Day and appeared in the popular mujra number of Agent Vinod, 'Dil Mera Mufta Ka' along with Kareena Kapoor and Maryam Zakaria. She played a pivotal role in 2013 thriller movie, John Day. Clerk, Gandhi to Hitler, Aasma and Prague are other noted appearances. She played the role of a Czech gypsi girl in 2013 release – Prague. She also played a supporting role in 2011 Bengali comedy film - Rang Milanti. John Day was her big break to Bollywood where she appeared in the role of Tabassum Habibi, a depressed alcoholic lady. She worked aside Randeep Hooda and Naseeruddin Shah in the movie.

Elena Kazan belongs to Moscow, Russia. Her childhood days were spent in Ukraine and later the family moved to Berlin and at the age of 16, Kazan reached US for higher studies. Her entry to Bollywood was just co-incidence. She reached Kolkata to work with a voluntary organization to teach German language. She spent three years in India travelling across the country and learnt to speak Hindi fluently. She worked as an assistant for Australian short film based on Kolkata and that’s how she got an opportunity to appear in a Bengali movie. 2010 Bengali film 'Clerk' marked her acting debut followed by multilingual - Gandhi to Hitler in 2011.

She wanted to become a documentary filmmaker and photography is also her passion. She has spent time to learn guitar, parkour training and pole-dancing. She loved Indian cinema and that’s the reason why she moved to India.
