Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud Biography 
Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud is a sitting judge of the Supreme Court of India. He has earlier served as the Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court and a judge of the Bombay High Court. He is the son of prominent juristic Y. V. Chandrachud, the longest-serving Chief Justice in India's history of administration and also Judge to the Supreme Court of India since 1972, known for major judgments during his tenure such as "Kissa Kursi Ka" case, Habeas Corpus case, Minerva Mills Case and The Shah Bano case. Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud who currently serves as the judge of Supreme Court of India, is in line to become Chief Justice of India in 2022. His son Chintan Chandrachud is a legal scholar and writer.
Dhananjaya Yeshwant Chandrachud was born on 11 November 1959. His father Y. V. Chandrachud was a Judge with Supreme Court, while his mother Prabha, a musician. He completed his graduation from St. Stephen's College, New Delhi in 1979. Later he obtained his LL.B. degree from Delhi University in 1982 followed by an LL.M. degree from Harvard University in 1983. He also completed Doctorate of Juridical Sciences from Harvard University in 1986, before he moved back to India to start his professional career.
He practised law at the Supreme Court of India and the Bombay High Court. In 1998, he became Senior Advocate, followed by Additional Solicitor General of India the same year. He became Judge of the Bombay High Court in year 2000. He was appointed Chief Justice of the Allahabad High Court on 31 October 2013, and Judge of the Supreme Court of India on 13 May 2016. He has delivered lectures at different universities across the globe.
