Anirudh Chaudhry Biography

Anirudh Chaudhry is an executive who currently serves as Treasurer of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI). He has served as the manager of the Indian team for its tour of England in 2011, and many elite positions in Indian cricket; honorary secretary of the Haryana Cricket Association, Manager of the Indian team for the ICC T20 World Cup in England in 2009 etc to mention a few. He is the son of veteran congress politician, Ranbir Singh Mahendra who also served as president of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) from 2004 to 2005. After father, Anirudh got into BCCI hierarchy. Ranbir Singh was also Secretary and Joint Secretary of the BCCI.

 

Anirudh Chaudhry has been linked with numerous controversies throughout his professional journey. Most recently, Anirudh Chaudhry allegedly threatened the Board of Control for Cricket in India’s (BCCI) Chief Financial Officer (CFO) Santosh Rangnekar, and remained in news for a while for wrong reasons earlier too. Chaudhry's spending has always irked many, and was raised twice in 2014 and 2017. He also remained in news in 2017 related to implementation of recommendation by a panel headed by Rajendra Mal Lodha. He was one of the three senior BCCI officials which were reprimanded by the Supreme Court for their "obstinate behaviour" in handling the recommendations. The death threats towards Santosh Rangnekar were denied by Anirudh.

 

In 2013 he got into BCCI hierarchy at the age of 37. He represented Haryana Cricket Association in the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) till then. He replaced Mumbai Cricket Association president Ravi Savant as Treasurer. He was appointed as chief of the Indian Premier League after Rajiv Shukla decided that he didn’t want to continue heading the Twenty20 extravaganza. Chaudhary earlier served as the manager of the Indian team on the 2011 Test tour of England.
