Chitra holds the record of maximum awards in National awards female playback voice. Not only has she received in 6 award sections, she holds the unique record of winning in the awards in three different languages. Apart from Malayalam and Tamil, she has won it once for Hindi too. The song was Payali chunmun chun mun of Virasat, released in 1997. Let us have a quick look at top Hindi tracks of Chitra.

1. Kehna hai kya – This particular song was the big break of Chitra to Hindi film industry. She sang this song from Bombay in both Hindi and Tamil versions.
2. Payali Chun Mun – This song not only gave her National awards but also earned her nominations at Filmfare and Star Screen awards.
3. Tu mile dil khile – It’s told that whoever sing this song, it’s worth to hear once. This evergreen romantic track is from 1995 movie Criminal, where she sung aside Kumar Sanu.
4. Koi mil gaya – Title track of blockbuster movie of 2003, Koi mil gaya was sung by Chitra. Pictured on Preity Zinta and Hrithik Roshan, this song was very popular and earned her a Filmfare nomination too. Music was given by Rakesh Roshan.
5. Kasam ki kasam – This one is perhaps the most romantic song sung by her after the movie Criminal. Pictured on Kareena soft pitched voice of Chitra carried away with the real mood of the song as well. Shaan was her co-singer.   
6. Prem meri aakhom mein – Another popular track from Mein prem ki diwani hoon. This sedative dance number was pictured on Kareena Kapoor.
7. Saathiya yeh tune kya kiya – One of the earliest hits of Chitra. This song is from the movie ‘Love’ pictured on Revathy and Salman Khan.
8. Hawa mein kya hai – This melodious soft was from the movie Jagriti, pictured on Karishma and Salman Khan. SPB sang aside her.
9. Roop suhana lagta hai – This particular track from the movie, The gentleman was directly lifted from its original, Music score given by Rahman.
10. Tera jaadu chal gaya – Beautiful title track sung by Chitra and Sonu Nigam, music given by Ismail darbar
11. Hoo lala la – She won National award for singing its Tamil version. So, this lovely composition of Rahman from the movie Sapne surely deserves a position in my list.
12. Hum tumse na kuch – Ziddhi is one of the biggest hits of Raveena Tandon. Surely this melodious track sung by Chitra, aside Hariharan is simply the best.
13. Tere liye jaanam – Once again Karishma Kapoor. Chitra has sung quite a few songs for Kapoor sisters. This particular track from the movie Suhaag (1995) closely resembles Roja title track.
14. Tum bin jiya jaaye kaise – From the movie Tum bin released in the year 2001. Both the movie and its music were sleeper hits.
15. Yaarom suno zara – All songs from Rangeela were chartbusters. Then how can this track be excluded?
16. Rang de basanthi – She sang the title track of the film with Daler Mehndi.
17. Tu mera hai – Ada was noted for its music than its film script and actors.
18. Yeh hasseen wadiyan – What a wonderful track from Roja. Once again Chitra-Rahman magic.  
19. Pyar tune kya kiya – Sad version of the title track was sung by Chitra while the fast track by Alka.
20. Raat hamari to – From the movie Parineeta, this song was noted for her singing talent.
21. Mera Dil ka tumse hai kehna – Preity Zinta and Chitra for the movie Armaan, what a beautiful track.  
22. Raat ka Nasha – Chitra’s list of Hindi songs is incomplete without this sedative track. Once again with this hit track, she has proved that her voice suits Kapoor sisters most.
23. Jahan piya vahaan mein – Let me complete my list with this melodious track from Pardes. How beautifully she has sung this song!
