Salman Khan Biography

Salman Khan is one of the leading super stars of Hindi film industry. Currently the most paid and most cashable actor of Bollywood, he along with two other Khans – Aamir and Shah Rukh have ruled Bollywood the past 25 years or so. Started off his career as a chocolate lover boy in the late 1980s, he turned an action hero in the late 2000s. In between he did many successful comedy films in association with David Dhawan, family dramas with Rajshree films and several romantic films as well. After a low phase in his career in the 2000s, he has turned to be the most cashable actor of Bollywood  in the nw decade and most of his films after that has entered 100, 200 or 300 crore clubs.

 

Salman Khan is the son of scriptwriter Salim Khan best known for scripting Sholay aside Javed Akhtar. The celebrated cabaret dancer of Bollywood yesterdays – Helen is his stepmother. Both his younger brothers are into film industry, and he has worked with both of them. His brother Sohail Khan is an actor and director, while Arbaaz Khan is known for his supporting roles. Malaika Arora was previously,arried to his brother Arbaaz Khan. Salman is not settled with his married life, and the hottest bachelor from the industry. But his rumours of linkup with his co-stars like Somy Ali, Sangeeta Bijlani, Aishwarya Rai, Katrina Kaif and many more have always caught media attention.

 

Salman entered film world with his chocolate image in the late 1980s. When he entered films, Bollywood was going through a low phase of family melodramas, and his first lead role – Meine Pyar Kiya received warm welcome from teenagers and youth. Earlier he did a supporting role in 1988 film Biwi Ho To Aisi. Meine Pyar Kiya was a kind of film Bollywood never witnessed and the movie’s success made him a star overnight. After that he played lead roles in a series of movies in the 1990s, and played a chocolate hero in most of them.

 

Baagi, Saajan, Patthar Ke Phool, Sanam Bewafa, and Kurbaan cemented his position as the new romantic hero of Bollywood. Songs of his films too were well received. In 1994, he worked with Aamir Khan for the cult classic comedy Andaz Apna Apna, and in the following year, Karan Arjun, a story of incarnation aside Shah Rukh Khan. 1994 film Hum Aapke Hain Kaun aside Madhuri Dixit cemented his position in Bollywood.

 

Since then Salman Khan has seen both success and failures in his career. 1998 was one of the biggest years of his career with 4 hits – Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya, Jab Pyaar Kisise Hota Hai, Bandhan and a supporting role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, where he worked aside Shah Rukh Khan. The following year also remained one of his top years of 1990s with three blockbusters – Biwi No:1, Hum Saath-Saath Hain and Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.

 

In the decade of 2000s, he had more failures than hit films. His association with David Dhawan always worked in Bollywood. After the super success of Biwi No:1 released during Cricket world cup 1999, they teamed up for the blockbusters like Mujhse Shaadi Karoge and Partner. In terms of performance, Tere Naam released in 2003 is regarded as his career best. But after that his career slowly started drifting. In 2009 he returned in a bang with the action film Wanted, and there was no turning back after that. With his new action hero image, his resurgence was much more than everyone predicted, and when Debangg got released everything was rewritten.

 

With the release of Dabangg in 2010, a new era of Salman Khan was born and a new series of action masalas. His every new release created new box office records, except his 2017 release Tubelight. Dabangg 2, Bodyguard, Ready, Ek Tha Tiger, Jai Ho, Kick, Prem Ratan Dhan Payo, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Sultan created fire at box office creating new club records. He also debut as a playback singer through Hero, and a successful film producer as well.

 

He is perhaps the only super star who has done cameo roles in countless number of films. He has never hesitated to do cameo roles for less-known or new directors of the industry. Though known to a great human through the different charity activities, the infamous hit and run case, deer hunting and his affairs with his co-stars have irked many.
