Salman Khan is a great Indian actor who has acted more than 80 films in Hindi. His original name is Abdul Rashid Salim Salman Khan and was born on 27th December 1965. He is the first son of Salim Khan. His mother’s name is Salma. His ancestors belong to Afganistan. His mother’s original name is Sushila Charak and she is a Marathi Brahmin. His step mother Helen is an actress in Bollywood. He did his schooling at Scindia School, Gwalior and St. Stanislaus High School in Mumbai. Arbaaz and Sohail are his younger brothers. Sallu is his nickname. People also call him Badshah of Bollywood and King Khan.
His debut in acting started with a minor role in the drama Biwi Ho To Aisi. Maine Pyaar Kiya gave him first commercial success and this also won him Filmfare Award for Best Male Debut. His sculpted chest, not wearing shirts and many controversies made him popular. He dated Sangeeta Bijlani, Aishwarya Rai and Somy Ali. His relationship with Aishwarya Rai was publicized in media. This broke off as Aishwarya accused him of harassment. Now he is close with his girlfriend Katrina Kaif.
Some of his commercially successful films are hum Dil De Chuke Sanam in 1999, Tere Naam in 2003, Mujse Shaadi Karogi in 2004, No entry in 2005, Partner in 2007 and Wanted in 2009. He could be said as one of the leading stars of Hindi film industry. Some of his films are London Dreams, Veer, Heroes, Ready, Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye Chori Chori Chupke Chupke, etc. He received a number of awards for his films.
He had to face a number of legal troubles quite often. On 22nd September 2002 the police arrested him for rash driving as his car ran into a bakery in Mumbai and person sleeping there died and three others injured. Later he was released. On 17th February 2006 he was put in jail for one year for hunting an endangered species. Later he was released in bail after six days.
