Rakesh Roshan Biography 
Rakesh Roshan is an actor, director and producer of Bollywood film industry in India. He was born on 6th September 1949 in Mumbai, Maharashtra in a Hindu Kayastha family. He is known for directing films with the starting letter of ‘k’. His father was Roshan, who was the music director in Bollywood. His younger brother Rajesh Roshan is also a music director. He married film actress Pinky who is the daughter of director J. Om Prakash. Rakesh Roshan has one son Hrithik Roshan who is also an actor and one daughter Sunaina.
He made his film debut in 1970 through the film Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani. From then on he has acted in over 60 films in 70s, 80s and 90s. He started his own film production company, Filmkraft in the year 1980. The first film that he produced was Aap Ke Deewane in the year 1980. His directorial debut was in 1987 in the film Khudgarz. He also directed many box office hits such as Kishen Kanhaiya in 1990 and Karan Arjun in 1995. He concentrated more in film direction than in acting.
The career of his son was started in his film Kaho Naa……Pyaar Hai in the year 2000. This was the highest grosser of the year and was mentioned in the Limca Book of Records for getting most number of awards won by a Bollywood film. He directed the science fiction film Koi…Mil Gaya in 2003. He made his son act in this film also. His superhero film Krrish also was commercially very successful. He produced the film Krazzy in 2008.
Some of the films in which he acted are Paraya Dhan, Zakhmee, Aakraman, Ginny Aur Johny, Aahuti, Aangan Ki Kali, Khandaan, Khobsurat, Om Shanti Om, Mother, Kaavalan, Bhagwan Dada, etc. and some of the films that he directed are Khoon Bhari Maang, Kala Bazaar, King Uncle, Khel, Koyla, Karobaar, Koi Mil Gaya, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Krrish, etc. and the three films that he produced are Kaamchor, Krazzy 4 and Kites.
He was honored on 3rd December 2006 in the International Film Festival of India in Panaji for his contribution to cinema. On 11th December 2006, he was honored during the Global Indian Film Awards for his outstanding contribution to Indian cinema industry.
