Vijay Mallya Biography 
Vijay Mallya is an Indian industrialist and Member of Parliament. He is the chairman of the UB Group – an Indian conglomerate including diverse products, brewing, distilling, pharmaceuticals, real estate, engineering, fertilizers, biotechnology and information technology. He took over as the chairman of the company at the age of 28 after his father, Vittal Mallya's sudden demise in 1983. He also owns IPL Team, Royal Challengers Bangalore.
Mallya was born on 18 December 1955 in Bantwal. His studies were done at La Martiniere for Boys school and St. Xavier's College, both in Kolkata. Later he took interim at United States. He was only 28 when his father died unexpectedly. Mallya was unanimously elected Chairman of United Breweries. He brought various companies together and focused on the core business of beverage alcohol only. Kingfisher beer controls more than 50 per cent market share of India's beer market. United Spirits Ltd., the flagship of the UB Group is the largest spirits company in the world by volume.
Vijay Mallya has been frequently featured in columns and media since Kingfisher Airlines became one of the loss making private organizations of India. It was established in the year 2005 and not even able to give salaries to its employees. The license of Kingfisher airlines was suspended on 20 Oct 2012 after it failed to respond to the DGCA. In January 2013, it lost its flying permit also. Apart from owning IPL team, he also owns Sahara Force India Formula One Team (a Formula One racing team based in Silverstone), Mohun Bagan Athletic Club (an Indian I-League football club based in Kolkata) and East Bengal Football Club (Indian I-League football club based in Kolkata). Mallya has been elected to the Rajya Sabha two times in 2002 and 2010, both as an independent candidate from Karnataka.
