Avs Raju Biography 
AVS Raju is an industrialist and the founder chairman of Nagarjuna Construction Company Ltd. Alluri Venkata Sathyanarayana Raju familiarly known as AVS Raju is a doyen in the Indian construction industry. His experience in construction field is nearly 5 decades. He was also Promoter and Managing Director of M/s AVS Containers Ltd. in 1983-84. He was the Secretary and Treasurer of Sri Nagarjuna Cooperative Housing Society Limited in 1975 and currently serves as its President. He has devoted time for literary, cultural and social activities and earned fame as a freelance writer. He is a recipient of Padma Shri by the Government of India in 2010 in the field of Trade and Industry. In 1998 government of Andhra Pradesh honoured him with Ugadi Puraskar. He is also a recipient of many other honours.
AVS Raju’s full name is Alluri Venkata Satyanarayana Raju. He was born on 18 April 1937 in Antarvedi Palem, East Godavari District of present day Andhra Pradesh. He belongs to a rich businessman family, and it has been into construction business for three generations. After matriculation he joined family business at the age of 18. He started contributing his share in developing the state in the areas of Industry, Infrastructure, Agriculture and Power. Over the years he became one of the prominent industrialists of south India. Most of his works are located in Hyderabad and its neighbouring places.
He is also a writer best known as a poet. He wrote more than 10,000 poems on various subjects. His published books include Sri Sai Sudha Madhuri, Rama Rasamrutham etc. His work Sri Sai Sudha Madhuri based on the life of Sri Satya Sai Baba between 1996 and 2007 was published in 32 volumes. He currently serves as the chairman of the Hyderabad District Dharmic Council.
