Swami Veda Bharati Biography 
Swami Veda Bharati was a Hindu saint, Sanskrit scholar and yoga instructor who lived during the period, 1933- 2015. He spent most of this life teaching and providing spiritual guidance around the world. As a child he memorized almost all great Sanskrit works such as Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads and Panini’s grammar before he reached 9. He served as Professor of South Asian Studies at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis, between 1966 and 1973. He was conferred with the title of Mahamandaleshwar of the Niranjani Akhada in 1999 by Swamis.
Usharbudh Arya, who later became Swami Veda Bharati was born in Dehradun in 1933. He was raised in the 5000-year-old tradition of Sanskrit-speaking scholar-philosophers of India. He was initiated to this world and guided by his father since the age of five. Since then he sat for an hour of meditation daily. An extremely talented child, he mastered and memorized all four thousand sutras of Panini's Sanskrit grammar by the age of six and a half. He completed Bhagavad Gita, the Upanishads, the six systems of Indian philosophy, the Yoga-sutras of Patanjali, along with Pali by the age of 9. He started formal teaching after that. He also published many works using the name, Usharbudh Arya.
He was initiated to the path of Yoga and meditation by his master, Swami Rama of the Himalayas in the year 1970, and initiated him into Sannyasa in 1992. Till his death in 2015, he dedicated his whole life towards spirituality, philosophy and also spread his teachings worldwide. He founded Association of the Himalayan Yoga Meditation Societies International and was the spiritual director of the Sadhana Mandir and Swami Rama Sadhaka Grama in Rishikesh. A scholar par excellence, he could conduct lectures in 10 languages and meditation in 17 languages.
