Subroto Bagchi Biography

Subroto Bagchi is a business man and entrepreneur from Orissa. He also authors book related to business. He is the co-founder of Mindtree, a multinational IT and outsourcing company headquartered in Bangalore and New Jersey. Founded in 1999 by 10 IT professionals, the company now employs approximately 17,500+ employees with annual revenue of $840+ million. The organization majorly operates with clients from India, United States and Europe. Go Kiss the World – is his autobiography work on his journey in business world.

 

He was born in 31 May 1957. He graduated in political science in Utkal University. In 1974 he earned "Para Wings" after being trained at Parachute Regiment of the Indian Army. The following year he received award from Prime Minister at Republic Day Parade in Delhi, for Best NCC Cadet of India. He started as a clerk in government sector in 1976. But now he is one of the most successful businessmen of the country.

 

He became a management trainee in DCM in 1977, where he worked for 5 years. After that, he entered IT field in 1981, and worked in different IT companies till 1999, before he along with a group of friends started IT solution company, Mindtree in Bangalore the same year. Prior to set up his business, he had a long-term association with Wipro and also served as Chief Executive of Wipro's Global R&D. He left Wipro in 1998 to join Lucent Technologies, and after one year, set up his new IT company.

 

Subroto Bagchi began as chief operating officer when MindTree was started. He was instrumental in articulating Mindtree's mission, vision and values, and helped his company to become one of the leading IT companies of the country since 2007. He is also a board member of the NGO, White Swan Foundation.
