Soniya Mehra Biography

Soniya Mehra is a young Bollywood actress. She started her Bollywood journey in the year 2007 with the movie,’ Victoria No. 203: Diamonds are Forever’ and later appeared in movies like Basra, Shadow, Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu and in the latest release, Ragini MMS 2 where she portrayed the character role of Tanya Kapoor. She is the daughter of popular Bollywood hero of 1970’s and 1980’s, Vinod Mehra, mostly known for the linkups with his co-star, Bollywood diva Rekha.

Soniya Mehra was born on December 2, 1988 in Mumbai, Maharashtra. She was born to Bollywood actor Vinod Mehra and his third wife, Kiran. She was only one year old when her father died of heart attack. After her father’s death, she was brought up by her grandparents in Kenya. Her education was completed in Kenya and London. She was grown up hearing a lot about her father, accounts given by her mother. Since she can remember, she wanted to act in movies, like her father. She started learning dance at the age of 4. At the age of 9, she joined London Academy of Music and Arts and since teens, she had made up her mind to join Bollywood.

Soniya is trained in theatre acting and when she reached Mumbai at the age of 17, she joined Anupam Kher’s acting school to study film acting. Kher recommended her name to Film maker Kamal Sadanah who was in search of an actress for his upcoming movie, ’ Victoria No. 203: Diamonds are Forever’. She was chosen for the role and she worked aside Anupam Kher, Om Puri, Jimmy Shergill, Preeti Jhangiani, Javed Jaffrey, Johnny Lever and the film producer himself.
