Javed Jaffrey is best known for his western dance steps as well as the judge of popular dance talent hunt show of Sony Television Woogie Boogie, that has been telecasted for years. It is the longest running dance show, covering 15 years. The popular chartbuster, Bol baby bol, where he danced along with South Indian successful actress Khushboo was from his debut movie in which he played the negative character role. He is a very versatile artist who plays comic roles as well as serious roles and a live anchor on television shows as well. He is the son of comedian of yeaterdays, Jagdeep. As a producer, he has won National Film Award for Best Film on Social Issues: for the movie - Inshaallah, Football (2011). As a comedian he has won IIFA awards for her powerful comeback movie Namasthe London in 2005. He received Filmfare nomination for Best Performance in a Comic Role as well.  He is regarded as one of the most versatile performers in India at present. He has made distinct fingerprints in all sectors he has worked with - actor, dancer, singer, choreographer, Video Jockey, MC and ad filmmaker.

He debut Bollywood with Mere Jung in the year 1985. In his debut movie itself, he showed his dancing skills, in an era when western dance steps were immensely popular. "Bol Baby Bol Rock & Roll" is always regarded as a path-breaking style as a dancer and he got a huge fan crowd following him. He has acted in 35 movies till now. He is most successful as a television anchor and comedian than a film artist. He became immensely popular as a television artist during 2000’s. He played the role of Nandita Das’ husband’s role in the controversial movie, The Fire.

As an actor his movies during 80’s are Junoon, Woh phir aayegi, Lashkar and 7 Saal baad. His movies during 90’s include – Jawani zindabad, 100 days, Jeena marna tere sang, Teesra kaun and Karma yodha. His popular television shows include Woogie Boogie, Mai Ka Laal on Disney Channel India, TELE HOUSIE, JBC (Jaaved Broadcasting Corporation), Chitrahaar, Truck dinadin and Chak doom doom.
