Sanjiv Mehta Biography 
Sanjiv Mehta is a business executive, who currently serves as the CEO and Managing Director of Hindustan Unilever, a leading Indian consumer goods company based in Mumbai, Maharashtra. He joined as a staff of Unilever, Dubai in 1992 and later held several elite positions of the company before he was appointed as CEO in 2013. He is the first Indian CEO ever to have worked at Hindustan. Though a slowdown in rural economic growth affected the volume of goods in the annual year 2015-2016, deeper penetration of its dominant markets to extract better margins helped the company to compensate with the reduced volume of sales, and Mehta played a major role in taking several key decisions during this period.
He holds a graduation in commerce and also completed chartered accountant course before he started his professional career. He joined the chemical company, Union Carbide India Limited in 1982 one year prior to infamous Bhopal disaster which killed thousands. It was his first company and first job too. In 1992 he moved to Dubai and worked with Unilever, marking his beginning with the new company. He worked in Dubai for 7 years, and joined Unilever branch in Bangladesh in the year 1999 as a board member. Very soon he became the chairman of the board.
He was appointed head of the Middle East and North Africa division of the company in 2008, and as new CEO of Hindustan in 2013, a position that he serves till now. The parent of the company belongs to Dutch and hence meaty global roles always go to Dutch people. So naming Mehta as CEO of India came as a surprise to all. He was 53 years old when he was appointed as CEO.
