Rohit Bansal Biography 
Rohit Bansal is an Indian businessman and entrepreneur, best known as one of the co-founders of Snapdeal, India’s leading e-commerce platform for selling over 30 million products. Rohit currently serves as the COO of Snapdeal. He co-founded this online store aside his school friend Kunal Bahl, an engineering graduate from University of Pennsylvania. Kunal serves as the CEO of the company. Snapdeal was started in the year 2010. Rohit completed his engineering degree from IIT, Delhi. Both the friends are recipients of multiple awards for their amazing journey in Indian e-commerce platform.
Rohit hails from Malout, Punjab. He was born to a grain merchant. He completed his schooling from Delhi Public School, New Delhi where Kunal Bahl was his classmate. Though Kunal failed to get through IIT Delhi entrance exams, Rohit managed to get admission in IIT, where he completed his engineering studies. By this time his friend Kunal moved to USA where he completed both his engineering and Business management studies and set up a detergent business of his own before he was deported back to India in 2008 following visa problems.
When old friends met again, Rohit was with CapitalOne and they started to set up a business of their own. Initially it was only a daily deals platform and they launched an offline couponing business in 2007-08. E-commerce platform in India was still an infant then. Snapdeal took its new form in 2010. But very soon it expanded to one of the leading e-commerce platforms of India, dealing with a wide range of electronic, electric, fashion, accessories and other products. Till now the company has raised funding 7 times and it sells products to more than 6,000 towns and cities across the country. More than 275,000 sellers are also benefitted with this platform.
Many foreign companies are investing huge sums of money in this successful project. The company has also acquired several websites selling products. Snapdeal is one of the fastest grown young companies of India at present. It also gives amazing job opportunities to thousands. In 2014, Rohit was awarded with BMA Entrepreneur of the Year Award, ET Top 50 Entrepreneur of India award and EY Entrepreneur of the year – Startup award. Snapdeal had installed 15 hand pumps for drinking water to Shiv Nagar of Muzaffarnagar district, Uttar Pradesh in 2011, and this village is now known by the name, Snapdeal.com Nagar.
