Rohan Khaunte Biography 
Rohan Khaunte is an Indian politician and businessman from the state of Goa. He currently serves as an MLA from Porvorim constituency from the North Goa district. He contested the Goa assembly elections for the first time in 2012 as an independent candidate and won it too. He got elected from newly formed Porvorim constituency. Now he is serving his second term as MLA. This time also he is serving as an independent candidate without any political affiliations. In fact he created a new record in the political history of Goa, as the first Independent MLA to be re-elected in Goa.
Rohan Khaunte was born in Panjim city of the state of Goa into a business family. He completed his Electrical Engineering degree. He has been interested in sports during his academic years and has represented his state Goa in Basketball and Cricket. After completing his engineering course, he joined family business started by his father. He earned fame as a young businessman and also won Young Entrepreneur Award 2003. He is also associated with social activities and is the founding Chairman of the Porvorim Yuva Welfare Trust, started in 2010. LiveFree – free Wi-Fi internet services, street cleaning programs and garbage collections are some of the initiatives of Porvorim Yuva Welfare Trust.
Rohan got into active politics in the early 2010s and successfully contested 2012 state assembly elections as an independent candidate. He retained his seat in 2017 assembly elections too. During his tenure as MLA, he has raised his voice against many social issues as an active opposition member which includes - Traffic due to construction of third Mandovi bridge, Beach Cleaning Scam, Special status for Coconut Tree etc. He remained extremely popular among the masses, though he doesn’t own any political backing.
