Rhea Chakraborty Biography

Rhea Chakraborty is an upcoming Indian film actress and a successful VJ on MTV India. She debut big screen with Telugu movie, Tuneega Tuneega in 2012 playing lead role opposite Sumanth Ashwin. However the movie received negative response from critics. In 2013, she made her successful debut in Bollywood with the critically and commercially well received movie – Mere dad ki Maruthi. She played lead role opposite Saqib Saleem in this comedy movie and it proved to be a good break to Bollywood. Her upcoming Bollywood movie is Sonali Cable directed by Charudutt Acharya and produced by Ramesh Sippy and Rohan Sippy, where she plays lead role opposite Ali Fazal. Rhea has sucecsfully hosted shows on MTV - Pepsi MTV Wassup, Gone in 60 seconds and Tic Tac College Beat. Her first screen presence was as a contestant for ‘TVS Scooty Teen Diva’, where she finished as First runner-up.

She was born in Bangalore on 1 July 1992. Rhea started her television career with MTV India's reality show TVS Scooty Teen Diva (2009) and became first runner up. Very soon she gave her first audition at Delhi for MTV Video Jockey, where she got selected. Thus she got opportunity to host many shows on MTV and became successful as well. Her successful career as a VJ gave her film opportunities also. She played a character role in Telugu film Tuneega Tuneega in 2012, followed by her successful debut as the lead heroine of commercial hit - Mere Dad Ki Maruti. Her character name was Jasleen in this movie. Her debut hit gave her more opportunities in Bollywood.

Most recently in March 2014, she filed a molestation complaint with Khar police station. According to her complaint, following her argument with a man outside her building premises, he tried to molest her. Rhea, who is trained in martial arts, gave a solid kick to the stranger. But he escaped. Police is at present investigating on this case.
