Ranjith (actor) Biography

Ranjith is a popular actor of Tamil cinema, who has appeared in a few Malayalam movies as well. Though known for negative roles, he has also played lead hero roles in a few movies. He was married to noted film actress of 1990’s, Priya Raman. They fell in love while working together for the movie, Nesam Pudhsu and got married later. This marriage ended in 2014 and he later married Ragasudha. He received Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Villain award for 1998 movie, Marumalarchi. He has played noted negative roles in Malayalam movies like Lokanathan IAS, Rajamanikyam, Chandrolsavam and Thanthonni in the recent times.


His real name is Shivaji Rao and he was born on 13 August 1979. 1994 Tamil movie, Sindhu Nadhi Poo marked his impressive debut. After that he appeared in a series of Tamil movies, mostly portraying negative roles. Minor Mappillai, Pon Vilangu, Avathara Purushan, Bharathi Kannamma, Cheran Chozhan Pandian, Desiya Geetham, Natpukkaga, Dharma, Marumalarchi and Pudhumai Pithan are some of his early works. Ranjith has also made a few attempts to play the hero in the past. He played hero last in the film 'Pasupathy C/O Rasakapalayam' which was an average at box office.


Bheeshmar with his home productions was his first movie as director. The movie was released in 2003. He played the role of a honest police officer in this movie. He has also announced his maiden directorial venture, Rayilu in which he plays the lead hero role. It was through actor Mohanlal that he got his debut Malayalam movie, Natturajavu. Together thety worked later in Chandrolsavam too. Later he has played noted villain roles in many Malayalam movies.
