Naveen Tewari Biography

Naveen Tewari is an entrepreneur and businessman from Kanpur, UP who is the founder and CEO of InMobi, a global mobile advertising and technology platform. He is also a board member of Paytm. He set up mKhoj, a SMS search engine in 2007, with the help of his friends, Abhay Singhal, Amit Gupta and Mohit Saxena in an apartment at Mumbai which failed shortly. Later they moved to Bangalore and started InMobi, with the investment of SoftBank, KPCB and Sherpalo, which became successful.

 

Naveen was born into a family of IT professionals in Kanpur, UP. His father is a professor at IIT, Kanpur. Neveen completed Mechanical Engineering from IIT, Kanpur in the year 2000. He met Amit Gupta and Abhay Singhal at IIT and later Mohit Saxena joined the team to start the successful venture. Soon after completing his engineering degree, he started his career as a business analyst at McKinsey and Company. He was associated with the company for next three-four years. He had a short stint with Charles River Ventures in 2004 before he moved abroad to study business management at Harvard Business School.

 

While at US he also set up an NGO - India Schoolhouse Fund, to set schools at rural areas of India. Soon after his completion of his business studies, he joined hands with his friends Abhay Singhal, Amit Gupta and Mohit Saxena and started mKhoj. Following its failure, they moved to Bangalore – the central hub of IT in India where they formed InMobi. In 2015 he was presented 'Future Leaders Award’ by Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India. In 2012, he found his name at the second position at ‘Most Important Person’ by Business Insider’s the Mobile Power List. Since then he is in limelight for being a successful entrepreneur and young businessman.
