Murali was a popular actor in Tamil cinema who was most active in the era of late 1980’s and 1990’s. He died due to a massive heart attack just before the release of his 100th movie – Kavasam. When he died on September 8, 2010 at Chennai, this popular actor was only 46 busy with the marriage of his daughter. His son Adharvaa has entered cinema as an actor and Murali has also played a bit role in his son's debut film “Bana Kathadi.” It was his last onscreen appearance. Kadal Pookkal is regarded as one among the finest performances of this light hearted actor for which he won Tamil Nadu State Film Award for Best Actor for the year 2001. Idhayam is another memorable role. Though he was not a big hero with huge fan following crowd, Murali through his natural acting has made his own fingerprints in the acting industry and he owns several blockbusters and super hit movies too.

Murali was the son of Kannada director S. Siddalingaiah and he was born on May 19, 1964 in Bangalore. He debit big screen through Kannada movies in the year 1984. He was launched to big screen by his father in the year 1984; the movie was "Prema Parva". Later he acted in a few Kannada movies like Ajeya, Prema Gange, Thayikotta Thali, Sambhavami Yuge Yuge and Ajay-Vijay before he entered Tamil movies with Mani Ratnam’s debut movie as a director – Pagal Nilavu. He was paired opposite Revathy and through this movie he made a successful Tamil debut. It gave ‘the angry young man image’ to Murali as well. After that he became a part of Tamil film industry.

But later he struggled to get good roles and his movies began to flop. But when he reformed himself as a soft natured hero, his work got noticed and his movies began to collect money at box office too.
