Kamal Kumbhar Biography 
Kamal Kumbhar is an entrepreneur and successful business personality from Osmanabad, Maharashtra. She was born to a daily-wage labourer and her younger days were spent in absolute poverty, where three meals a day was a luxury. She couldn’t afford education. She had a failed marriage. But later she set up Kamal Poultry and Ekta Sakhi Producer Company. Her organisation enabled 3,000 women in the drought-prone region of Osmanabad to set up small poultry ventures for a premium variety of chicken, thus providing an alternative and sustainable source of livelihood to women trapped in poverty. A serial entrepreneur, Kamal today owns six different businesses and is a role model business leader.
Kamal hails from Osmanabad, Maharashtra. She was born into a very poor family which struggled a lot to make both ends meet. Her father was a daily-wage labourer. She witnessed a lot of struggles, poverty and financial issues since her childhood days. When she got married off, there was nothing favourable for her and Kamal witnessed a failed marriage before she turned a successful entrepreneur and created a niche of her own. Kamal won CII Foundation Women Exemplar Award 2017 in the field of micro-enterprise, and also Women Transforming India Awards 2017.
Kamal started Kamal Poultry and Ekta Producer Company in the year 1998. When she turned an entrepreneur, she didn’t have any working experience or knowledge of business or marketing. She started business with a meagre sum of Rs 2,000. 20 years later, her company brings at least Rs 1 lakh every month as profit. Not only that, she mentored more than 5,000 women from her state to set up similar enterprises and become self-sufficient. As her native place Osmanabad is drought hit area, it’s not easy to bring profit through agriculture, and best alternative is poultry.
