Kader Khan Biography

Kader Khan is a veteran actor of Bollywood equally proficient for comedy roles as well as villain. His movies with Govinda-David Dhawan combination are quite popular and known for its humour touch. He is a good character artist as well as supporting actor. He is a well known script writer, dialogue writer and director also. He is a leading dialogue writer who has written dialogues for over 250 Indian films, from the 1970s. He has acted in more than 450 films as well. Now he has taken a break from the industry and is working in a comedy series Hi Padosi..Kaun Hain Doshi on Sahara One Television.

Since 1984 he has been nominated for best comedian in 10 movies. However he was able to win it only once, for the movie - Baap Numbri Beta Dus Numbri in 1991. Other nominated movies are Himmatwala, Aaj ka daur, Sikka, Hum, Ankhen, Mein khiladi tu anari, Coolie No.1, Sajan chalo sasural and Dulhe Raja. He won Filmfare Award for Best Dialogue in the year 1982 for Meri Awaaz Suno and Angaar in 1993. His most popular film as a dialogue writer was Rajesh Khanna’s Roti, for which its director Manmohan Desai paid him one lakh twenty-one thousand, which was a good amount for dialogue writers during the decade of early 70’s. He has penned dialogues for majority of the successful movies of the next superstar, Amitabh as well. Do Aur Do Paanch, Muqaddar Ka Sikandar, Hum, Ganga Jamuna Saraswati, Sharaabi, Coolie, Satte Pe Satta, Inquilab, Lawaaris, Suhaag, Mr. Natwarlal, Khoon Pasina, Giraftaar, Agneepath, Desh Premee, Parvarish and Amar Akbar Anthony are the blockbuster movies of Big B for which Kadar Khan was the dialogue writer. The combination of Manmohan Desai-Amitabh Bachchan-Kadar Khan trio created new records in the history of Bollywood.

Other successful movies of Kadar Khan as a dialogue writer are Himmatwala, Coolie No. 1, Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Kanoon Apna Apna, Khoon Bhari Maang, Karma, Sultanat, Sarfarosh, Justice Choudhary, Dharam Veer. He is a multi-facet personality who is versatile in writing serious and powerful dialogues as well as acting as a comedian in movies aside Johnny Lever and Shakti Kapoor. He is also seen in numerous character roles during the era of 90’s.
