Indraja Biography

Indraja is a south Indian actress known for glamorous roles and item songs. She has acted in all south Indian languages and has worked in 1990’s and 2000’s. Though the actress sizzled in Sogasu Chooda Tarama with her talent, due to bad luck she couldn’t get good roles in the film industry. She got stuck in item songs and less significant glamour roles and disappeared without any notice. She was most seen in Malayalam movies towards the end of 2000’s. Yet she couldn’t get good roles. She got sidelined in the film industry. She was mostly paired with Kalabhavan Mani in Malayalam action movies. She is to make her comeback through ‘Dikkulu Choodaku Ramayya’ directed by Koti, where she plays female lead opposite Ajay. However Ajay plays double role and Indraja is paired with senior Ajay.

 

Her real name is Rajathi. She was born in a family of three sisters, where she is the eldest. She was active in stage plays and singing competitions during her school days and won many prizes as well. She is a trained Kuchipudi dancer too. She was preparing for a journalist career when her entry happened to movies. 1993 Telugu movie, Vaddu Bava Tappu was her first onscreen appearance. She also appeared in the popular song "Kannepetta Ro" of Hello Brother.

 

Yamaleela in 1994 earned her quick attention. In this comedy film she played lead role opposite Ali. It was comedian Ali’s first movie as a hero. The songs were well noticed and the movie was a hit too. ‘Sogasu Chuda Taramaa?’ was her next release where she was paired with Naresh. The movie was an average hit. She made her Tamil debut with Rajavin Parvaiyile (1995) and Malayalam debut with The Godman (1999). After that she was mostly active in Malayalam. She is now active in small screen too.
