Dhanya Balakrishna Biography 
Dhanya Balakrishna is an upcoming Indian actress of south Indian film industry. She has appeared in Telugu and Tamil language films till now and mostly appears in supporting and character roles. 7aum Arivu in 2011 was her debut movie. She acted in Tamil flicks like 7aum Arivu, Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi, Neethaane En Ponvasantham, and Raja Rani. Seethamma Vakitlo Sirimalle Chettu,Yeto Vellipoyindhi Manasu, Love failure, Second Hand and Chandamama Lo Amrutham are her Telugu flicks. Gautham Menon's Neethaane En Ponvasantham, Chinnachinnaaasa and Atlee's Raja Rani are her notable works till now.
In 2012 she invited controversies and landed herself to an unsafe territory following her twitter comments about Tamilians, after their loss of an IPL match to Bangalore. She referred to decades-old Kaveri water dispute between the two states, through her posts which allegedly hurt Tamil sentiments. She faced strong criticisms from Tamil people through social media and even apologized for it. Face book pages were flooded with comments and even a ‘Hate Dhanya’ page came up. Though she decided not to sign anymore Tamil movie, she returned with Raja Rani in 2013.
Dhanya belongs to Bangalore and had theatre experience before she entered film world. She studied Masters in film studies and directed an English short film - An Open Window. A. R. Murugadoss's 7aum Arivu (2011) marked her big screen debut where she played the supporting role of an Indian scientist. Then she appeared in the bilingual project, Balaji Mohan's Kadhalil Sodhappuvadhu Yeppadi followed by Gautham Menon's Neethaane En Ponvasantham. Her first movie in lead role was Telugu flick - Chinnachinnaaasa, released in 2013. Chandamama Lo Amrutham and Second Hand are her yet-to-release movies. She is to play lead role in the comedy entertainer ‘Second lead’. The movie is directed by Kishore Tirumala.
