Archana Joglekar Biography

Archana Joglekar is a well known Kathak dancer and film actress. She is a successful film actress and television actress also who concentrates most on Marathi as well as Hindi. She is remembered for Doordarshan Hindi serial, Phulwanti in 1998 where she acted as Phulwanti opposite Arun Govil. As a film actress, she has been most successful in Marathi, her best movies being 'Eka Peksha Ek' and 'Anapekshit'. Her noted Hindi movie is Sansar (1987), remake of Tamil hit, ‘Sansaram athu minsaram’ where she plays the role of Rajani who marries a Christian.

Archana learnt Kathak from her mother Asha Joglekar, a trained Kathak dancer. In 1963, Asha Joglekar founded a dance school in Mumbai called Archana Nrityalaya. In 1999, she got married and moved to US. Later Archana opened its new branch in New Jersey. As an actress, Archana debut with Oriya movie, Suna Chadhei and later moved to Marathi cinema. As an actress, her noted movies include - Aatank Hi Aatank, Married 2 America, Rangat Sangat, Baat Hai Pyaar Ki, Mardaangi, Aag Se Khelenge and Shtree. She played the lead role in Doordarshan Hindi serial – Phulwanti. ‘Tera mera manwa kaise’ song sung by Lata Mangeshkar pictured on her was the highlight of this serial. She has also acted in Chunauti (1987) and Kissa Shanti ka. 

In November 1997, she accused a person named Bhubanananda Panda for attempting to molest in her guest house while she came to Bhuvaneswar for a film shooting. It took eight years for the court to find him guilty and gave him 18 months imprisonment in the year 2010. Archana Joglekar is now the director of Archana Nrityalaya India and USA. Her nrityalaya gives tough contestants at many dance programs including television reality shows like Woogie Boogie.
