Anil Manibhai Naik Biography 
Anil Manibhai Naik is an Indian executive and businessman, who currently serves as Group Executive Chairman of Larsen & Toubro Limited, an Indian engineering conglomerate. He is also a philanthropist. For his overall contributions towards Trade & Industry and Infrastructure, government of India honoured him with Padma Bhushan in 2009 and 2nd highest civilian honour, Padma Vibhushan ten years later in 2019. He received 'Economic Times Awards-Business Leader of the Year' award in 2008 and many more honours.
Anil Manibhai Naik hails from Gujarat. He was born in 1940/1941 in British India. After school studies, he graduated in mechanical engineering from Birla Vishvakarma Mahavidyalaya Engineering college in Vallabh Vidyanagar. After studies, with his father’s letter in hand, he went to Mumbai to meet Viren J. Shah, who was an industrialist then before taking politics. Shah was then working at Mukul Steel as an engineer. As he was not proficient in English, he missed a good opportunity. The personnel manager asked him to improve his English skills. Anil did so and later earned a job at Nestler Boilers.
Following a change of administration in 1965, he lost his job and once again he started looking for new options. Naik joined L&T, as a junior engineer very soon. After two decades of service with the same company, he was promoted to general manager post in 1986. From there on, he rose to higher ranks and became the chief executive officer and managing director in 1999. He was appointed as chairman of Larsen & Toubro Ltd in 2003. Under his leadership, the company witnessed new dimensions of growth within a short period. He set up Naik Charitable Trust for education and the Nirali Memorial Medical Trust, and since 2016 75% of his income is given to both these trusts.
